Today I did something that filled my cup in the best possible way.
I spent a few quiet, meaningful hours at my local library, where I met three lovely children and their mums. I’ll be supporting them on their reading journeys—and honestly, there’s something incredibly special about being part of that process.
Over time, I’ve noticed a pattern with every child I work with. There’s always a moment when they’re ready. It doesn’t always happen the first time we meet. Sometimes they’re unsure. Sometimes they’re distracted. Sometimes they’re just not there yet—and that’s perfectly okay.
I see my role as gently helping them cross that invisible threshold. I bring in playful resources, small wins, lots of encouragement, and we start right at the beginning. We build from scratch, exploring sounds one by one, keeping it light, keeping it fun.
And then it happens.
One day, mid-session, I see it—that little sparkle in their eyes. Something clicks. They lean in. They try. They want to try. Suddenly they’re open. Open to learning, open to the challenge, open to the magic of reading.
From that moment on, everything shifts. What once felt hesitant becomes an adventure. And I get a front-row seat to watch their confidence grow.
Moments like these remind me why I do this. It’s not just about reading. It’s about readiness, belief, and unlocking something that was there all along. 💛
